Preventative hoof care is essential when it comes to your horse’s hooves.
How often should you pick out your horse’s hooves? The best practice is to clean them out daily and if not daily then by all means clean them out before and after you work with or ride your horse.
When cleaning out their hooves check for puncture wounds, abscesses and thrush. If your horse has shoes on check to see if the shoe is loose, has shifted or shows uneven wear.
